The second I push open the door, I can tell something is off. The smell hits me first. The hair on the back of my neck stands up and goosebumps erupt up and down my arms.This is that sense. The one Oprah says women always ignore. I know something is off and I’m not turning and running. My concern for Connor overrides the flight instinct. “Connor? You here?” No answer. Then I hear it. A faint groan, barely audible, coming from the living room. My stomach drops. “Connor?” I call again. I flip on the light, bracing myself for ... I don’t know what for. But I can feel something coming. At first, I see nothing. And then I see a hand. My stomach drops. “Connor?” I step around the couch and see him lying on the floor. “Connor!”
